I began day two of my annual Volunteer's Week today by lending a had at The Kingsway Church in Wombourne. A place where local volunteers are providing support for local people at their food bank and helping families with school aged children at their school uniform bank.
During the afternoon, I truly got stuck in with the brilliant team from the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust at Highgate Common to help clear undergrowth and support their conservation efforts. Hard work, but incredibly rewarding; and yes, a well-earned cup of tea followed.
So far, this week has been exactly what my Volunteers Week is all about - celebrating the incredible work of local volunteers and giving me the chance to roll up my sleeves and get involved alongside them and I'm looking forward to reporting back about my activities during day 3 of my volunteers week tomorrow.
