As we approach the autumn and winter fireworks season, residents regularly get in touch with me to share their experiences of how fireworks can affect their households and communities.
For many people, fireworks are an enjoyable part of celebrations throughout the year. However, the noise and unpredictability can also have a significant impact on others, particularly those with pets. Dogs, cats and other animals can become frightened and distressed by loud bangs and sudden flashes, leaving owners worried about how best to keep them calm and safe.
As a dog owner myself, I know first-hand how worrying fireworks can be for our four-legged family members. I understand why this is an issue that matters so much to many residents, and why there are differing views about how fireworks should be used.
That’s why I want to hear directly from people across Kingswinford and South Staffordshire about their experiences. Whether fireworks have had a significant impact on your household, caused particular difficulties for your pets, or you simply have views about how fireworks should be managed, your feedback is valuable.
I’m asking residents to take a few moments to complete my fireworks survey. Your responses will help me better understand the experiences of local people and ensure that residents’ concerns are heard and properly taken into account as this issue is considered.
