Mike Wood MP has attended the first day of the Staffordshire County Show, describing it as a strong celebration of the best of Staffordshire’s rural life.
The event showcased a wide range of local produce, livestock displays, and agricultural activity, highlighting the quality and diversity of the county’s farming and food sectors.
Mike Wood MP said the show provided an opportunity to recognise the importance of agriculture to the local economy and rural communities, as well as to celebrate the work of farmers, producers, and exhibitors taking part.
He also noted that, alongside the success of events such as the County Show, many farming businesses continue to face significant challenges, including rising operational costs and wider pressures affecting the sector.
Mike Wood MP reaffirmed his support for British farming and emphasised the importance of ensuring that family-run farms are supported to remain viable for the future.
The Staffordshire County Show continues tomorrow, with visitors encouraged to attend and support local agriculture, food producers, and rural businesses.
