It was fantastic to stop by the Cancer Awareness Bus during it's recent stop in Wombourne recently. I met with clinical representatives from the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board to discuss the importance of taking part in national cancer screening programmes.
These conversations highlighted just how valuable initiatives like this are in bringing healthcare directly into the community. The bus provides a welcoming, informal space where residents can speak with NHS professionals about symptoms, understand their eligibility for screening, and get clear advice on when it’s important to seek further help. Opportunities like this can make such a difference in encouraging early detection and giving people the confidence to act on any concerns.
Cancer is a devastating illness that has affected so many of our loved ones across my constituency. Improving cancer outcomes in Kingswinford and South Staffordshire remains a key priority for me, and it’s vital that we continue working collaboratively with healthcare partners to raise awareness, increase screening uptake, and ensure residents have access to the information and support they need.
