Increasingly, it appears that Keir Starmer is attempting to shift blame onto civil servants rather than addressing fundamental questions about his own leadership and decision-making.
On 18th March, I formally asked the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs to clarify whether Peter Mandelson was granted high-level security clearance, commonly referred to as STRAP. This level of clearance is reserved for access to the most sensitive government intelligence, making transparency around its allocation essential.
The public deserves clarity. Decisions involving national security should never be left open to ambiguity, nor should legitimate questions be met with silence or deflection.
Ultimately, leadership is not just about holding office, it is about being accountable for the decisions made within it. If that accountability is lacking, serious questions must be asked about whether the current leadership is fit to continue.
