Mike Wood MP has spoken in Parliament to highlight the cultural importance and heritage of South Staffordshire.
Joining with fellow representatives from across the County, The Member of Parliament for Kingswinford and South Staffordshire spoke passionately in today’s Westminster Hall debate on the Cultural Contribution of Staffordshire ahead of Staffordshire Day, celebrated annually on 1st May.
Departing slightly from the traditional format, Mr Wood used his three-minute speaking slot in the time-limited debate to highlight the cultural significance of each of the twelve individual parishes within his constituency. As a deeply rural area—74% of which is designated agricultural land—each parish boasts its own proud history, traditions, and unique cultural identity.
Mike Wood MP said:
"It’s an honour to be able to speak in Parliament about our culturally rich area, drawing attention to the unique character and charm of each of our villages in South Staffordshire.
South Staffordshire isn’t just a place – it’s a living, breathing testament to culture, history, and community. From its historic homes and beautiful landscapes to its modern festivals, breweries, and outdoor activities, South Staffordshire offers something for everyone. It’s a place where tradition is respected, innovation is embraced, and culture thrives."
